Now this is a stage for your beloved characters. A display and photography case just for figures called Figure Stage has made an appearance. It was developed by the online venture company MindFree.
The case is the perfect size for figures at 445 mm x 320 mm x 300 mm and features a turntable and four full-color LED lights on each side. Its dedicated smartphone app can be used to control the color and brightness of the lights and to rotate the turntable. It can also be connected to a Wi-Fi capable SLR camera to take pictures. To keep your figure in an optimal condition, a sensor has been included to allow you to check the inside temperature and UV levels on your phone.
MindFree unveiled Figure Stage at Maker Faire Tokyo, saying that it was the result of otaku engineers making something that they wanted. It certainly seems useful for anyone who wants to get into figure photography.
The release date has yet to be determined, but they are currently seeking prototype developers and collectors to try out Figure Stage. Scheduled presenters at Treasure Festa in Ariake 10 (Dec. 23, Tokyo Big Sight) and Wonder Festival 2014 Winter (Feb. 9, 2014, Makuhari Messe) who want to use the case in their displays are also being recruited on Facebook and Twitter.
