The previously announced anime adaptation of Hisashi Suzuki’s light novel Magical Warfare is finally drawing near. On Nov. 15, the official site was updated with new information. The anime will begin broadcasting in January on TBS and BS-TBS, as well as MBS and CBC. It is one of the most anticipated anime of the New Year.
Magical Warfare began being published by MF Bunko J in 2011. It is written by Hisashi Suzuki and illustrated by Lunalia, whose art is becoming popular. The work depicts genuine magic action set in modern times. High school student Takeshi Nanase comes to the aid of Mui Aiba, a girl wearing a uniform he had never seen before, when he finds he collapsed on the school campus. More than that though, he becomes a magician due to Mui’s powers. This is because Mui is a girl from the world of magicians - a world that is falling apart. Starting with this incident, Takeshi joins Mui in saving the world. In order to change fate, he becomes embroiled in magnificent magic battles. The work is worth taking note of due to its fantastical story.
Also worth noting is the voice cast of the characters. Playing the main character Takeshi Nanase is popular seiyū Mamoru Miyano. Voicing Mui Aiba, the girl who accidently turns Takeshi into a magician, is Nao Tōyama. Addition cast includes Asami Seto as Kurumi Isoshima, Takeshi’s childhood friend whom she is in a fake dating relationship with, and Kenichi Suzumura as Takeshi’s classmate Kazumi Ida. Also joining the cast are other members whom seiyū fans won’t want to overlook including Nobuhiko Okamoto, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Jun Fukuyama, and Kazuya Nakai.
The production staff is also rich with talent. The anime is being produced by Madhouse and directed by Yuzo Sato whose past works include Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge and One Outs. Other staff members include Kazuyuki Fudeyasu––known from Kamen no Maid Guy, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, and Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life––as series composer, Ryōma Ebata as character designer and chief animation director, and Masato Kōda as music composer. Look forward to the broadcast at the start of the New Year.
