Although the showdown between Haruka and Rin is over, the Prefectural Tournament still continues. Goro Sasabe shows up, and he is surprised to hear about Haruka’s defeat.
When Haruka doesn’t return to the audience seats, Rei becomes worried and wants to look for him, but Makoto and Nagisa stop him. The three of them then bump into Rin. Rin turns them down, saying, “Other than winning and losing, what else is there to swimming.” Makoto tries to cheer on Nagisa and Rei by telling them, “Let Haruka be for a while and focus on our own matches now.”
Haruka remembers how he beat Rin in elementary school. He wonders if things would be different now if Rin would have won that time.
After Nagisa takes him back to the seats, Haruka feels something when looking at the swimming Makoto and Nagisa. Regrettably, however, neither of them manage to advance to the finals. Then comes Rei. Even though his goggles slip off when jumping in, he still swims with all his might.
In the evening, despite none of them having made it to the finals, Amakata tells them they all did well. Gō tells them, “There is still tomorrow!” It turns out that she arbitrarily entered them to the following day’s medley relay.
Rei, Makoto, and Nagisa go look for Haruka, but they can’t seem to find him. Meanwhile Haruka is at the school’s swimming pool, wondering to himself, “What was it that I wanted to do? Why am I swimming?”
When Haruka returns home, he finds his cell phone in Makoto’s hand, who fell asleep in the hallway. He listens to everyone’s messages recorded on the answering machine, and decides to participate in the relay.
The following day, upon seeing the Iwatobi High Swim Club appearing at the relay, Rin feels his heart beating louder.
With the four of them showing up at the relay, Haruka and Rin’s strong feelings toward each other come through. Will Rin and Haruka be able to reconcile? Stay tuned for developments to come!
