The start date for the broadcast of the anime Miss Monochrome: The Animation, on which voice actress Yui Horie was in charge of the original character designs, has been decided. The anime will begin broadcasting at 1:35 a.m. on Oct. 1 on TV Tokyo. Each episode of this short anime will be 5 minutes in length. Along with this announced, the first key visual of the anime has been released as well as information on the production staff.
The visual shows the character Kagami Mae, who becomes Miss Monochrome. Fitting of her name, the illustration is full of black and white, and even the tiles on the floor are a monochrome design. Miss Monochrome first appeared as a 3D character at the concert "Horie Yui o Meguru Bōken III ~Secret Mission Tour~" back in March of 2012. At the concert, it was revealed that she detests color and wants to turn the world monochrome. It will be interesting to see how this character setting will be arranged for the anime.
Directing Miss Monochrome: The Animation is Yoshiaki Iwasaki who has worked on Love Hina and The Familiar of Zero. Love Hina is said to be the highlight of Iwasaki’s early career, and it even included Horie as a heroine. Now, the two are once again teaming up for this work. Speaking of Horie, she will be voicing Miss Monochrome in the anime and in the theme song. Other staff members include Kazuyuki Fudeyasu as series composer and Yuki Morimoto as character designer. The anime is being produced jointly by Liden Films (an affiliate of Ultra Super Pictures) and Sanzigen. These two have past achievements in short 5-minute anime that include Aiura and Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life. They are likely to display the same hit-making ability with Miss Monochrome: The Animation.
In the anime, Miss Monochrome aims to become a famous idol. The premise of this airhead character striving to enter the idol world seems like it will be entertaining.
The areas in which Miss Monochrome have been active since the concert have also expanded, and she gained even more popularity by appearing in the 2012 Ameba social game Girlfriend (Beta). There are also many goods for the character, which have given this anime adaptation even more attention.
