Natsumi Okamoto’s first single, “-Mirage-,” also the ending theme to the TV anime Day Break Illusion, was released on July 24. Okamoto is the winner of the Sixth All-Japan Anison Grand Prix and she makes her debut as an anime song singer with this song.
The Sixth All-Japan Anison Grand Prix was an anime song competition held in October 2012 that attained a record number of over 10,000 groups who applied. Okamoto, who shined among those applicants, is produced by Shigeo Komori who is known from the TV anime K-On. Her first single titled “-Mirage-” expresses the dark world of Day Break Illusion while having a gentle melody.
The limited edition of the single comes with a 12-page book of exclusive photos and a tarot card used by a character in the anime called “Elemental Tarot Card (Earth).” Also included is a DVD music video clips and the non-credit ending to the anime. This edition is finished off with an exclusively drawn, three-sided sleeve case.
In celebration of her first single’s release, events are being held for those who purchase the single. The first of these events was held on Aug. 4 at Animate Sapporo. The others will be held on Aug. 17 at Animate Nihonbashi and on Aug. 18 at Akiba Sofmap 1 and Animate Shibuya. Those who buy the CD at participating stores can receive a priority ticket to the events. Each store will have a meet and greet along with a signing and mini concert. It seems that there will be a good turnout of fans for these events.
The anime Day Break Illusion is gathering attention for being an original anime with no corresponding manga. For both the anime and Okamoto, don’t take your eyes off how they develop.
