On July 15, Ocean Day (a national holiday in Japan), a somewhat strange event was held at the Comic Zin store in Akihabara, Tokyo. A young cosplayer dressed in a one-piece swimsuit stood in the store's display window for fans to take pictures, causing many male patrons to flock there with their cameras.
This event was held by Seikaisha Publishing to celebrate the print release of the manga Sukumizu! available on the webcomic site, Sai-Zen-Sen. A Cosplayer dressed as the character Kacchan from the series and posed in the display window.
Sukumizu! is a full-color, four-page webcomic with five chapters released so far. The story is about three girls who are members of a school swim team. The catch is, their school has no pool! The girls decide to wear swimsuits to school for one full year in order to win a bet with their teacher and have a pool built. The manga follows the girls as they struggle with lewd looks from male students and other challenges in a charming and comical way. The comic is now on sale for 952 ten, tax not included.
Sai-Zen-Sen has produced a variety of works with the goal of furthering a new web-based style of communication and media that offers unique content which print comic magazines cannot. In addition to the original Sukumizu! comic, the site also features a variety of other content. From the literary series Garden of Sinners, science fiction novel Coral Moon, to a novelization of the popular game Danganronpa, Seikaisha has produced a variety of popular works in various mediums.
Furthermore, the site offers exclusive interviews with artists and developers that can only be found on Sai-Zen-Sen, along with special promotions for its members. It is likely that more original events like this Sukumizu! release will be happening in the future. You can expect that more ambitious projects and unique content from Sai-Zen-Sen are yet to come.
