On July 12, the official site opened for the TV anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel which will begin broadcasting this fall. On the official site, a new PV has been released. The PV, titled “Iona Ver.,” puts the spotlight on the main character, Iona. Even more PVs focused on other characters will be released hereafter.
Also, at the same time the site opened, the voice cast for the main characters Chihaya Gunzo and submarine I-401’s mental image “Iona” were announced. Kazuyuki Okitsu, who left a strong impression as Jonathan Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, has been appointed to the role of the young officer cadet, Chihaya Gunzo. It seems fans can look forward to his powerful voice this time as well. Mai Fuchigami, who received high praise for her role as Nishizumi Miho in Girls und Panzer, has been decided for the role of the young girl Iona, a physical embodiment of the submarine I-401. This time, she will be playing a new type of mecha.
The anime for Arpeggio of Blue Steel was greenlit back in May. The original work is a popular manga serialized in Young King OURs (Shonen Gahosha).
At the time it was announced, the anime picked up considerable attention for its impressive staff that includes Seiji Kishi ( Persona 4: The Animation, Danganronpa: The Animation ) as director, Makoto Uezu ( Devil Survivor 2: The Animation, Danganronpa: The Animation ) as series composer, and Masato Koda ( Monster Hunter series) as music director. The anime is being produced by Sanzigen, a CG anime studio that has been basking in the limelight lately. Keep an eye out for how the noteworthy cel-style 3D CG used in 009 Re:Cyborg will be evolved in this work.
Promotions for the work are also looking to be positive. Original goods will be announced and on display at Comic Market 84, being held from Aug. 10-12 at Tokyo Big Sight. Also, a plastic model of the vessel introduced in the work is planned to be announced from Aoshima Bunka Kyozai. Because they are seen as the authority when it comes to scale model warships and submarines as seen in their product line “Water Line Series,” fans can expect the same quality from Aoshima Bunka Kyozai in this plastic model. More information on this model will be announced in model magazines that go on sale at the end of the month as well as at Wonder Festival, which is taking place starting on July 28.
