Pre-orders began on June 23 for the “TBS Limited The Idolm@ster Duralumin iPhone 5 Case Ryugu Komachi & Akizuki Ritsuko Model” in celebration of the popular TV anime The Idolm@ster character Akizuki Ritsuko’s birthday. Ritsuko is the producer of Ryugu Komachi, an idol group in the series. The case is being manufactured by Gild Design.
The special model has been manufactured with the concept of “serious protection for smartphones.” The case is made of the highest strength duralumin, which is used for automotive and aircraft parts, and using the power or lasers, a striking image of the girls is etched onto the back of the case. This authentic Japan-made product is made only with materials, tools, and packaging from Japan.
Gild Design also designs and manufactures motorcycle race parts. They design parts to be as lightweight as possible while maintaining the strength to endure a race. Using such technology on their iPhone cases, they create designs of only what is necessary and eliminate anything unneeded. By doing so, functional and beautiful cases are born, designed to not have any pointless parts.
The Idolm@ster is an anime adaptation of the original work, a game series of the same name. The story follows members of the idol agency 765 Production as they each mature into full-fledged idols.
