From July 4-7 at this year’s Japan Expo, Europe’s largest Japanese trade fair, Toyota Motor Sales & Marketing (TMSM) displayed a booth for their animation collaboration project with Studio 4°C called “PES (Peace Eco Smile)” at which they held collaboration events with Japanese anime directors and musicians.
On July 5, a talk event with the directors involved with making the newest animation for PES was held along with a screening event at which clips of the anime and music were premiered. Directors Toshiyuki Kubooka, who worked on the Berserk movie series, and Tatsuyuki Tanaka both went on stage and shared their thoughts on the newest collaboration and on Japan Expo.
Regarding the collaboration, producer Minai from Toyota shared his thoughts: “I believe that by the power of anime and music, we can change the future and people’s hearts. I want to do what I can to make that a reality.”
On July 6, the live event “PES Next Generation Live! Toyota × Studio 4°C Meets ANA” was held. Popular artists from within Japan and abroad––including Una, Nightmare, May’n, and Avantgarde––gathered and performed at the event.
TMSM thinks about how to create the “future everyone wants to go toward” though content creation and event policies for its projects as well as through brand appeal. For that reason, through considering video and music to be the source of swaying people’s hearts and curiosity, they create new animations together with music clips.
Their mission isn’t just conveyed through digital means, but also through real events and developing various forms of collaborations with people, things, and places––cross collaborations that are organically connected through which their message is sent forth.
To distribute news on Japan’s culture and attractive locales, TMSM is also collaborating with the airline company ANA on the project “Is Japan Cool?” through which both companies wish to transmit to the world their spirit of Japan. Keep an eye on how this progresses.
