The main area of AnimeJapan 2015 opened its doors on March 21. The event lasted three days, including Business Day on the 20th, until the 22nd.
AnimeJapan is an event first organized last year that combines and upgrades the events Tokyo International Anime Fair and Anime Contents Expo. Revolving around the subject “You’ll love anime even more,” the event featured exhibitions related to anime.
The event has stepped up a level since last year, establishing a reception hall for the business area beside halls 1-6 of the East Exhibition Hall of Tokyo Big Sight. It was furthermore enriched by the anisong event AJ Night held on the eve of AnimeJapan, and the event stages called Green, Blue, and Red where there were talk shows and announcements regarding the latest anime.
At the Collaboration Showcase, collaboration anime products and traditional crafts were on display and for sell. There were items from each of the 47 prefectures of Japan with all kinds of goods to choose from, starting with the ¥1.2 Million yen “Gundam Char Zaku folding screen.”
The original illustrations and signature boards were among the most popular items of the exhibition. The items on display included precious original illustrations from anime such as Tokyo Ghoul, Fate/Stay Night, and Detective Conan and the signature boards of their original authors.
Similarly to last year, backgrounds and official 3D situation sets of popular anime were awaiting in the Cosplayers’ World cosplay area. There were also rental outfits called “Cosplay Challenge.”
Even though this was only its second time being held, AnimeJapan is quite well-known already. Following this, Comiket Special is scheduled to be held next week at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. With big events following after one another, these two weeks look like a busy period for otaku.
