Sci-fi writer Tow Ubukata, whose work Tenchi Meisatsu won the Bookstore Award and the Yoshikawa Eiji Literature Newcomer Award, is acting as series composer. In order to investigate, Kusanagi transports a Rojikoma and is attacked by an armed unit. There, she meets Batou, a man with the “sleepless eye” who served in a former military special forces unit; Ishikawa, former member of the army’s intelligence division who excels at net information analysis; and Borma, also a former member of a military special forces unit who possesses skill in explosives creation and cyberwarfare. In opposition, Motoko scouts out Paz, a member of the military police’s infiltration and investigation squad, and the Marine Corps’ ace sniper and strikes back.
