From Bandai’s “Chara Shoku” series comes an Ultraman curry themed after the first generation Ultraman: Deputy Captain Hayate. Pre-orders for the curry, called “The Science Patrol Curry,” began on May 30.
The “Chara Shoku” series creates various food items in harmony with the world of different characters, and is one that seeks to combine the enjoyment of characters and the deliciousness of food. The “Science Patrol Curry” is the second in the “Ultraman Diner” series. The curry is themed after the one eaten by the members of The Space Patrol in Episode 34 of the special effects show Ultraman, “A Gift from the Sky.”
The curry was supervised by Kurobe Susumu, the actor who played Hayata in the show, and the recipe was reproduced. Susumu had this to say regarding the taste of the curry: “It’s mild and creamy! This curry is very easy to eat. The image of the original curry was closely reproduced, and even though it’s retro curry, it’s something that can be fully savored even today. This curry is suitable not just for adults, but kids as well.” This vegetable curry that is heavy with nostalgia for days past will be sold in a special box as an assorted set of four.
Furthermore, the set comes with a bonus 1/1 scale replica Beta Capsule. This item is used by Hayate every time he transforms into Ultraman. This will no doubt be something that those who saw the original Ultraman will long for. Unfortunately though, the replica doesn’t light up or play his voice. Even still, part of it was made using metal, and the feel and weight is just like the original item. Those who grew up with Ultraman, why not eat this curry and bring to life the dreams you had in those days?
