"Black Butler" Live-Action Movie Completes Filming, Slated for Release in Spring 2014!

Based on the popular manga that has sold more than 15 million copies, the live-action adaptation of Black Butler will star popular actor Hiro Mizushima. This will be Mizushima's first stint since he went on a hiatus three years ago. So far, only three characters from the movie have been revealed. As the shooting for the movie is completed, comments from Mizushima as well as actress Ayame Goriki have been released with stills from the movie itself.

Knowledge, refinement, grace, cuisine, fighting skills, and physique - the demon butler Sebastian (Hiro Mizushima) is perfect in every aspect. He has made a deal with the girl Shiori Genpo (Ayame Goriki). Shiori has given Sebastian her soul in exchange for his service to revenge, and the pair has taken on the challenge to solve the great mystery on orders from the Queen...

Mizushima, who acts as Sebastian in the movie, has garnered much support as fans eagerly anticipate his return to the big screen. He has even been awarded first place in the recent survey on "If I were born again, which good-looking celebrity would I want to be" in the issue of "Cancam" magazine published on May 26. As seen in the movie stills released, as the demon butler, Mizushima has donned bright red eyes and will charm the audience with his devilish sexy appeal.

The film was shot between April to mid May this year in one go mostly in places in Kyushu, such as in Yamaguchi Prefecture and North Kyushu. Mizushima's master Shiori, acted by Goriki, lives in a world of magnificent luxury with chandeliers, antique furniture, elaborate candle stands, and cutlery. In this movie rendition of the popular manga, all of its world has been recreated carefully for the viewers.

With the end of the shooting nearing, Mizushima has commented, "Filming has been staggering and steady at times, it's almost like climbing a mountain. When all the filming has been completed, the sense of accomplishment feels like one has reached the top of the mountain. This will be my last work as an actor in his twenties, and I hope to have fond memories of myself in it as well. Till the movie is released, I will continue to work hard on Black Butler." The actor, who has been away from the screens for three years, was filled with emotion.

Goriki is also brimming with hopes for the movie, as she commented, "It gets very lonely now that filming has completed. I am looking forward to seeing the final product. The footage we have now is already really beautiful. With CG added, I wonder what will become of it." On the other hand, she also commented on her co-star: "Mizushima has perfectly portrayed the perfect character of Sebastian. Mizushima's acting is really perfect, and every movement, every motion of his hands is perfectly beautiful. This is a major attraction to the film, I think. I am really honored and happy to be able to work with him." Goriki's respect for the actor is apparent. Even after three years of absence, his position in the industry has not wavered.

After four months of physical training and a month of filming, Mizushima lost weight in order to show a more slender figure in the movie. The actor who has devoted himself to this work weighs only about 50 kilograms now. This is indeed a well-crafted work full of anticipation for Mizushima's comeback.

Black Butler will be released during the New Year’s holiday in 2014.
