Director and creator Goro Taniguchi, whose past works include Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Planetes, is setting out on a new shojo anime project. The anime is shaping up to be a major contender for the summer 2013 anime season. That anime is Fantasista Doll, which will begin airing in July. Taniguchi is acting as creative producer on the anime, with Hisashi Saito directing, giving rise to an extravagantly powerful duo.
The story follows female middle school student Uno Uzume, who comes into possession of cards called Fantasista Dolls, and depicts the activities of her and the dolls. Uzume, who unexpectedly becomes the master of five dolls, deepens her friendship with them and uses them in battles. The five dolls include a slightly tsudere girl, a selfish noble type, a Goth Loli girl who is a military enthusiast, a slightly ditzy older sister type, and a little sister type who is gifted at cooking and drawing. Each character is fully unique. Just what kind of story will unfold using all of these girls?
On May 18, an event announcing the voice cast for the characters was held at Pasela Resorts Ginza in Tokyo. The event was also streamed on Nico Nico Live. At the event, Ayaka Ohashi, the previously announced voice actress for main character Uno Uzume, along with host Takeshi Washizaki announced the voice cast for the five dolls: Minami Tsuda (Sasara), Sora Tokui (Katia), Chinatsu Akasaki (Shimeji), Sayaka Ohara (Madeleine), and Akiko Hasegawa (Akari). The announced voice cast took the stage one by one as they were announced, with each actress being warmly welcomed by roars from the crowd. This popular group seems to be increasing the anticipation even more for the anime Fantasista Doll.
