On the basis of an “experiment,” the “Sisters” continue to forfeit their lives in succession. Mikoto is profoundly troubled by her consciousness of the figures of the girls who accept their fate of being killed, and, above all, the experiment coming into existence due to her actions in the past. When she meets again with Nunotaba, Mikoto has only fought against one of the research facilities participating in the project. Using electronic warfare, she continues to infiltrate the facilities and destroy them. On the other side of this tense fight is Kuroko, who is worried about Mikoto because her behavior has been strange. While not even being able to talk to Mikoto and being troubled by her powerlessness over the situation, she hears that arson is being committed in succession at research facilities throughout the city. While on patrol, she meets a girl looking for “lucky cards.”
(from the official episode guide)
In this episode, the spotlight is on Shirai Kuroko who plays an indispensable support role to the always rash main character, Mikoto. Separating from the tension-filled mood that was prevalent up until the last episode, this episode offers no development to the main story, but is enjoyable nonetheless.
This episode takes a look at what a normal day is like for Kuroko, who wants to lend her power to help Mikoto. Kuroko knows that Mikoto is entangled in some kind of trouble, and she feels a loneliness due to Mikoto not asking for her help. However, Mikoto says a single word to Kuroko before she leaves: “Thanks.”
The sudden word of gratitude from Mikoto gives Kuroko the resolve to continue trying her best. This episode is mainly peaceful, but it may be the calm before the storm. In the next episode, new characters will be introduced and Mikoto’s fight will intensify, so look forward to it!
