On May 13, Bandai launched a countdown page on its official online store Premium Bandai counting down to an announcement of new Studio Ghibli merchandise.
Until now, Premium Bandai has developed various anime, manga, and special effects products, but will now start selling Studio Ghibli merchandise. The countdown will reach zero in about a month’s time, at which time info on the new products will be revealed.
At the same time, Bandai will also implement a “Deluxe Wallpaper and Premium Points Present Campaign.” Ten names will be selected by lottery to win 2,000 yen worth of premium points, and all who enter will receive a special wallpaper featuring the new products. However, be aware that you must register for a free membership before you can enter the campaign.
As for the countdown site itself, at the moment, all you can see on the page is an animation of clouds floating through the sky. Which of Studio Ghibli’s works will be chosen? What sort of merchandise will be released? A figure series? A fashion line? Stay tuned to find out!
