“Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!” Second Season Announced!

Chuunibyou refers to a condition that occurs when adolescents experience a phase of extreme daydreaming and delusions of grandeur. The enjoyable anime Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! (also known as Chu-2 for short) follows the everyday lives of character with chuunibyou.

The original work is a light novel written by Torako and published by Kyoto Animation. The anime adaptation aired from October to December of last year. It became a success and a second season is now in the works. On May 10, the production of the second season was announced. Kyoto Animation will continue to be in charge of the anime adaptation. The main staff from the first season will also be returning to work on the second season.

Director Tatsuya Ishihara’s excellent ability is evident in the past works he has directed, including The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and Clannad. Series composer Jyuki Hanada is also known as a hitmaker, having worked on Love Live and Steins;Gate among other successful works. Also returning is Kazumi Ikeda, who will be the chief animation director and character designer.

Familiar voice stars Jun Fukuyama (Togashi Yuta), Maaya Uchida (Takanashi Rikka), Chinatsu Akasaki, Azumi Asakura, Sumire Uesaka, Soichiro Hoshi, Eri Sendai, Kikuko Inoue, Kaori Fukuhara, and Mami Shidara are performing together again as the series’ familiar characters for the second season.

The second season will again feature Togashi Yuta, who cured himself of chuunibyou at the same time he entered high school, and Takanashi Rikka, who currently has chuunibyou and believes she posses a “Wicked Eye,” as well as class representative Nibutani Shinka, the nap loving upperclassman Tsuyumi, and the perfect Dekomori Sanae, who also has chuunibyou.

The greatly unique characters are busy as this romantic comedy full of slapstick humor, laughs, and tears continues. The painful wait until its return is sure to raise the level of anticipation even more.
