This Weekend, the Strongest Will Finally Be Decided at the “Arc Revolution Cup”!

“Arc System Works Festival” (also known as “Arc Fes”) is finally drawing near. This beat ‘em up game festival will be held this weekend from May 18-19 in Japan. In a previous article (http://bit.ly/YKAijj), we outlined the festival’s many events, which include a live orchestral performance of game music and a live recording of a radio show featuring wonderful voice stars. There is no doubt that this fun event will be filled with a rich level of variety. This time, we’re going to take an in-depth look at the main event of the festival: the beat ‘em up game tournament “Arc Revolution Cup.”

“Arc Revolution Cup” is a tournament to decide the very best players of three of Arc System Works’ currently popular beat ‘em up games: Blazblue Chronophantasma, Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R, and Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. Preliminary tournaments for “Arc Revolution Cup,” which will bestow upon the winner the coveted glory and prestige of being named the best player, have been held each weekend since Feb. 16, with fierce battles unfolding in 188 arcades throughout Japan. On April 21, an area tournament was held to decide who would take part in this final tournament. The final preliminary round will be held on May 18, with the long-awaited finals being the next day on May 19.

Matching up with the “Arc Revolution Cup” being held, Arc System Works has recognized multiple entries in the participation rules of the tournament. In other words, contestants will be able to enter and possibly win the final tournament for each game. You may think, “With the best of the best being gathered from all over Japan, there is no way that would happen, right?” However, although there are no contestants signed up for all three game tournaments, there are six people who will be competing in two. Even just thinking about the possibility of someone achieving the impressive feat of winning two titles is surely enough to get beat ‘em up game fans excited.

There is a good chance that all finalists have witnessed “Arc Revolution Cup” in past years, and for those reading this article whose interest in the tournament has been peaked if only a little, we have good news! It has been announced that the tournament will be broadcast to the world on Twitch.tv and Nico Nico Douga. Make sure to sit in front of your computer on May 18 and 19 to witness an intense battle that is the best in the world! Even if you aren’t a fan of beat ‘em up games yet, watching this tournament will definitely spark a flame and awaken your passion for the genre!
