Collaboration Between the Popular Character Nameko and Traditional Daruma Doll Takes Place

A collaboration has been implemented between Osawari Tantei Nameko Saibai Kit, a free game app that many players have been enjoying since its launch in 2011, and Takasaki Daruma, a traditional handicraft made in Takasaki, Gunma, Japan.

Osawari Tantei Nameko Saibai Kit has surpassed 30 million downloads, and the game’s oddly cute character Nameko has become very popular, especially among young women.

The Takasaki Daruma is a type of good luck doll modeled after Daruma that were used long ago by Buddhist monks. The method of creating Daruma has been passed down for more than 200 years.

The collaborative “Osawari Tantei Nameko Saibai Kit Takasaki Daruma” is a surreal Daruma that features Nameko’s face drawn on the face portion of the doll. Each Daruma is made to order by craftsmen in Takasaki. The size of this collaborative Daruma is 23 cm in height by 20 cm in width by 21 cm in length, and it costs 8,888 yen (price includes tax). The official site for Runatown is accepting pre-orders for this Daruma, but due to it being more popular than anticipated, the site is currently sold out.
