“ILCA no Gakkou” Carries on the Dying Wish of the Deceased Kenji Eno, Creator of the Famous Game “D”

“ILCA no Gakkou,” a program that aims to train the next generation of creators, has begun at the Ikejiri Institute of Design’s Setagaya Manufacturing School in Tokyo.

The name ILCA is the abbreviation of “Innovation, Learning, Creativity, and Arts”. It is a project that was launched by game creator Kenji Eno, who suddenly passed away this February, and Joichi Ito, the head of MIT Media Lab.

On April 6, a special course titled “Learn About Kenji Eno, the Prematurely Deceased Genius” was held at “ILCA no Gakkou.”

During the course, Eno’s staff and some guests held a short talk centered around the theme “looking back at Kenji Eno with images” and discussed how big Eno’s influence was in gaming history.

ILCA promoters Katsutoshi Eguchi, who was responsible for music in Eno’s works, and Satoshi Seki, who developed numerous games with Eno, participated as speakers. Kenichi Nishi and Hideto Yamada also participated as guests. These two are also creators who were deeply involved in game production with Eno.

The second course was held on April 20 with the participation of Kazutoshi Iida, a game creator who was in close interaction with Eno. He talked about Edo from a different angle than previous guests.
