The game Clannad released on April 28, 2004 and has since achieved a cult-like following. In celebration of the game’s 10 year anniversary, a special site was launched on April 14. Also, an illustration contest is currently being held on pixiv until May 27, and this summer a 10 year anniversary commemorative book will release.
Clannad was developed by Key and is known as an bishoujo (beautiful girl) game. It’s themed after the relationships between people and is closely tied with family, such as the main character’s parents and the main character’s ability to marry and start a family with the game’s heroines. The link between families is carefully drawn and is what made Clannad popular. Many fans use the fan-created catchphrase “Clannad is life” when explaining game.
A 10 year chronology is also on the site for fans to enjoy and take a look back at the history of this much-loved game.
