Kaiyodo Neo Capsule is a brand that aims to revive “maniac capsule toy figures.” Its lineup features anime such as Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne, Guilty Crown, and Bakemonogatari.
In this article, I am going to review the three types that can be found in the product series for Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne. The three figures are the Piercer and Warrior Forms of the main mecha Vox Aura and the heroine, Kyouno Madoka.
Vox Aura
Let’s start by introducing the main mecha, Vox Aura. It has two figures: the plane-type Piercer Form and the robot-type Warrior Form.
The Piercer Form consists of five parts plus a two-piece pedestal. As the name “Piercer” suggests, it has a sharp, protruding nose. The design, made by a designer from an automobile company, gives a refined impression. The small parts on the head are thoroughly painted and the clear parts are effective as well.
The Warrior Form of Vox Aura has six parts and one pedestal. The proportion has a futuristic beauty in it. Since it is non-mobile, it is probably a reproduction more lifelike than action figures.
The shaping and painting are surprisingly well done, and each part is finely made.
Kyouno Madoka
Next, let’s look at the heroine, Kyouno Madoka. She is wearing the Kamogawa Girls’ High School uniform with white kneesocks, and in her hand she is holding a “lagrange” flower.
The eye print has been carefully made. Though, her expression is a bit too gentle; a more tense face might have been better. The wrinkles and buttons on her shirt look natural. Also, the skirt can be removed. The legs are nicely molded and healthy looking. Since she is not wearing her school swimsuit, those who liked seeing her in swimsuit in the anime might be disappointed.
Comments
I think that the modeling and painting on these figures is certainly more advanced than that of other capsule toys up until now. The Vox Aura figures, built from hollow and clear parts, are replicated according to the anime. The Piercer Form in particular has awesome styling, despite being made entirely from PVC!
It would have been even better if the Piercer Form’s pedestal was adjustable and the Warrior Form had maybe one mobile part.
As for Kyouno Madoka, since cute girl figures are not in my area of expertise, I can’t say much, although I think she is nicely done for her size.
