An Exhibit Reproducing Famous Scenes from Ghibli Movies in 3D Has Opened!

This year, two movies from Studio Ghibli will be released: Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Has Risen and Isao Takahata’s The Tale of Princess Kaguya. To commemorate these two films, an exhibit titled “Ghibli is Full of 3D Models Exhibit” opened on March 16 in Laguna Gamagori at the Lagunasia theme park in the Aichi prefecture of Japan. The exhibit will be open until approximately March 2, 2014.

The exhibit features famous scenes from such Ghibli classics as Castle in the Sky, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, and Howl’s Moving Castle reproduced using impressive 3D models. In addition, the exhibit also features many other attractions including a “Ghibli Theater” where previews of Ghibli movies are screened and a scavenger hunt called “Search for the Baron!” The items displayed at the exhibit will also be changed throughout the year, so fans can go many times and still see something new.

On the day the exhibit opened, a ceremony was held in front of the entrance to Lagunasia. In attendance were the prefectural governor of Aichi, Hideaki Omura, and the representative managing director of Studio Ghibli, Koji Hoshino. Along with a special supporter of the event, voice actress Aki Asakura, the tape was cut, raising the curtain on the exhibit in brilliant fashion.

It’s worth noting that an entrance ticket to Lagunasia is required to see the exhibit.
