Saiyuki Gaiden is the name of the OVA for the hugely popular anime Saiyuki. On April 26, a special volume of the OVA, titled “Kouge no Sho,” will be released. In commemoration of this, the previous OVA for the series were available to stream for free for a limited time.
“Kouge no Sho” is a special volume of the Saiyuki Gaiden series which ended in Nov. 2011. It was created due to fans’ burning requests. The original author, Kazuya Minekura, reconstructed the plot from Volumes 11-13 of the original work and crafted a story told from Tenpou Gensui’s point of view. The second half of the OVA features an original story by Minekura that can’t be seen anywhere else.
In commemoration of this special OVA’s release, OVA 1-3 were available to stream for free on Animate TV for a limited time from March 8-29.
