This July, the original anime Fantasista Doll will begin airing. The story for the anime was originally created by Goro Taniguchi, who has created many hit works.
The anime’s staff includes Hisashi Saito of Bamboo Blade and Heaven’s Lost Property f as director, renowned illustrator Anmi as character designer, and Hiromi Kato of Guilty Crown as animation character designer. Even with these three being the only staff members announced so far, even more big names are expected. As part of the Fantasista Doll Project, Taniguchi is also participating on the anime as creative producer.
Fantasista Doll is a story of friendship that follows a 14-year-old middle school student named Uno Uzume who battles against other young girls. One day, Uzume comes into possession of a card called “Fantasista Doll” and becomes the master of five unique dolls. Using the Fantasista Dolls, card battles unfold between Uzume and rivals. The story also depicts the everyday lives of Uzume and the dolls and their deepening friendships. A character visual of the cute Uzume drawn by Anmi has been released.
Taniguchi is the mastermind behind many genre-crossing hit anime including s-CRY-ed, Planetes, and Code Geass. Now he has his sights set on shoujo anime. Anticipation is rising to see what surprises Taniguchi has in store in Fantasista Doll.
