For four days from March 21-24, Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) 2013, an event that brings together anime-related businesses, was held at Tokyo Big Sight. The first two days of TAF are known as Business Day, and the second two days are known as Public Day. Compared to Business Day, Public Day boasted a dramatic switch, from the enthusiastic fans to the lively stage events.
The event featured not only an endless sea of booths for TV channels and anime production companies, there were also areas for children and overseas businesses. The event exuded a feeling of the extensiveness of anime companies and organizations.
Over its four-day run in 2012, total attendance for TAF was roughly 99,000 people. This year saw a seven percent bump to 106,000, which shows the high level of regard that Japanese anime has both within Japan and abroad.
