Five Centimeters Per Second is an anime film released in 2007 and directed by Makoto Shinkai. The movie is acclaimed for its beautiful visuals and moving love story. On Feb. 27, a new app was released on the App Store that lets users enjoy the world of the movie again. The name of the app is “Story Art Book III: Five Centimeters Per Second.”
In the app, the story is divided into three parts: “Cherry Blossom Second,” “Cosmonaut,” and “Five Centimeters Per Second.” Each part of the story also features images of famous scenes from the movie. Each scene can be enjoyed on a smartphone. “Cherry Blossom Second” and “Cosmonaut” were previously released, with “Five Centimeters Per Second” being the newest part to release.
In total, 110 drawings from the movie have been collected in the app. Additionally, 15 new images have been included in “Cherry Blossom Second” and 10 new images have been included in “Cosmonaut.” The price of the app is 170 yen. It is compatible with iOS 3.0 or later on the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad 2, and iPad Mini (both 3G and Wi-Fi). In addition to the Japanese version, an English version of the app is also available.
