A slightly unusual event themed around the popular TV anime Hanakappa was recently held. The event was a dinner show for parents and children called “Hana Sake! Pakka~n Hanakappa Waku Waku Dinner Show.”
After attendees enjoyed a Viking-style smorgasbord, popular characters from Hanakappa performed a show and dance. Afterward, attendees received souvenirs and the chance to take commemorative photos with the characters.
Anime events happen all over Japan and are not uncommon. However, a full-blown, anime-themed dinner show in a hotel is. Furthermore, dinner shows don’t usually focus on subject matter for parents and children. This unique experiment gave children the opportunity to experience an activity that is usually reserved for adults.
The dinner show was held twice on March 20. A movie for the anime Hanakappa will also be released throughout Japan on April 12.
