Recently, Production I.G used the American crowd funding site Kickstarter to produce a short animation project titled Kick-Heart. The total amount of funds ended up reaching US$200,000.
An important aspect to having a successful Kickstarter campaign is to absorb the demands and critiques of the backers and to always be sensitive to the level of support for the project. Also, rather than resorting to regular fundraising techniques, it's important to build excitement for the project with the backers.
By doing this, the backers will find the campaign entertaining in itself, and will feel that they helped accomplish the goal of the project through their own efforts. Having successfully raised the funds, Production I.G is currently moving ahead with creating the actual anime.
The anime, by the way, is a short animation film featuring a niche sado-masochistic love story between two pro-wrestlers.
Both the making and the story of this anime are pretty interesting!
