A new project related to Space Battleship Yamato 2199, which will begin airing this April, was recently announced. The project involved reproducing the flight jacket worn by members of the flying corps that began with Kato Saburo. In other words, the jacket from the anime was made into a real jacket.
The project was undertaken through the movie ticket site Dreampass. The site allows special deals for a limited time that people can sign up for. If enough people sign up for the deal before it expires, the deal will be carried out. In much the same way, the project was proposed on the site, meaning that if enough people signed up for it, the jacket would be made.
The jacket was produced by the Japanese domestic brand Plot, which is well known for doing anime collaborations. Every detail on the jacket was scrutinized for authenticity. The cost of the jacket was 52,500 yen. Regrettably, the application period for orders ended on Feb. 11. Don’t worry though, more projects like this one are planned to take place on Dreampass.
