“Chokkyu Hyodai Robot Anime”, a New Anime Created Using MMD, Begins Broadcasting!

Chokkyu Hyodai Robot Anime (*Straight Title Robot Anime*) is an anime that was made using the free software MikuMikuDance (MMD). The broadcast for the anime began earlier this month on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, and Nico Nico Douga.

The anime is being supervised by the company that created the MMD software, cort, and directed by Kotaro Ishidate (gdgd Fairies). Character designs for the anime were done by KEI, the original designer of Hatsune Miku. The opening and ending movies for the anime were produced by active members from Nico Nico Douga,including Beam Man P.

The anime is set in the distant future, over 7000 years after the extinction of the human race, and depicts the ongoing war between robots. The theme song for the anime was produced by Confiture, which is spearheaded by the Nico Nico Douga singer, Kohey. The ending theme for the anime was produced by the popular Anison artist, ZAQ.

MikuMikuDance is a free CG animation tool created for personal use by Yu Higuchi. Originally, only Hatsune Miku was able to be used in the program. However, the software has gone through significant upgrades to allow the use of many other characters. Currently, over 90 thousand works have been submitted to Nico Nico Douga using the program, and this number continues to grow.
