Square Enix began accepting applications to become a beta tester for the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PC/PS3) on Jan. 7. This round of beta tests will also include the long-awaited PS3 version.
Additional details regarding this current cycle of beta tester applications have been made available. According to the road map released on Dec. 27, 2012, the beta tests will be conducted in four phases. The first two phases will focus only on the PC version, with tests for the PS3 version starting in the third phase. Open beta testing will begin in phase 4, and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is planned to move to the official service once these tests have been completed.
It’s important to note that although the beta test application site has an area to input a priority campaign code included with Final Fantasy XIII, the chance to play the PS3 version won’t actually occur until the third phase of the beta test. Also, anyone meeting the requirements of the legacy campaign of the previous Final Fantasy XIV will be given the privilege of being a beta tester in phase 1. However, those wanting to play the PS3 version starting in phase 3 will need to reapply.
