It has been announced that the manga Silver Spoon, which is currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, is becoming an anime that will air on Fuji TV’s Noitamina anime block. The official site for the anime has already opened.

The manga for Silver Spoon began serialization in April 2011. The manga was created by Hiromu Arakawa, who is known for also creating Fullmetal Alchemist. As of Jan. 18, 2013, the number of copies of Silver Spoon that have been printed has exceeded 6.5 million.

Silver Spoon follows the daily life of Yugo Hachiken, an honors student who enters a high school focused on agriculture. The story depicts the strengthening of the bonds between Hachiken and his classmates as he practices and partakes in club activities with them, which influences Hachiken’s own maturity and growth.

In commemoration of the anime and the release of volume 6 of the manga, the official site has put up a commercial and video of a special commemorative cake.

Currently, information on the staff for the anime and when it will air is still unknown. We will post the latest information as it becomes available, so look forward to it!
