Tsutaya Bookstores nationwide have been keeping a tally on purchases to answer the question “what was the most popular work?”. The results have now been announced on the Tsutaya Yearly Rankings. Let’s take a look at how the gaming category stacked up.
In the overall yearly ranking for 20 best selling games, the Nintendo DS game Pokémon Black 2, which was released on June 6, 2013, took first place. Pokémon White 2, which released simultaneously with Pokémon Black 2, grabbed fourth place. Nintendo’s undiminishing strength is easily noticeable upon looking at the ranking since approximately half of the 20 games chosen were Nintendo DS and 3DS games.
The first place rankings by console were as follows: Resident Evil 6 for the Playstation 3, Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online for the Wii, and Persona 4 Golden for the Playstation Vita.
