“Maoyu Mao Yusha” Episode 1 Recap: “ ‘You will be mine, Hero!’ ‘I refuse!’ ”

Hero, who has a powerful fighting ability that can rival an entire army, embarks on a quest to the depths of the underworld in order to stop humanity’s enemy, the king of the demons, Mao (Demon King).

However, when Hero reaches Demon King’s castle, Demon King appears before him in the shape of a beautiful human female. It turns out that the King is a Queen. Being utterly confused, Hero still boldly challenges Demon Queen to a duel, to which she calms him by offering a certain explanation. If peace cannot be won through fighting, then maybe it can be won a different way...

In the episode “ ‘You will be mine, Hero!’ ‘I refuse!’ ”, contrary to what one might think, Demon Queen ends up admonishing Hero on exactly what justice, government, economics, war, and safety mean.

As compensation for Hero’s valiant attempt to lead the world to peace, Demon Queen submits to Hero. Even though Hero is utterly confused by Demon Queen’s offer, he accepts. The story depicts the blossoming relationship of Demon Queen and Hero as they discuss theories on war and politics. Viewers’ reactions have been superb. They say things like, “The introduction was perfect.
