The TV anime Love Live! began broadcasting on Tokyo MX on Jan. 6. Just before the anime broadcast began, a special event to promote the anime was held at the JR station in Akihabara, which attracted a huge crowd. The event no doubt helped boost the ratings of the first episode.
Even though the anime has just begun, the release date for the Volume 1 Blu-ray has been set for Mar. 22. The limited edition of the Blu-ray will come with wonderful extras including a bonus disk that includes the non-credit opening and commercials for the anime, an original song CD, as well as a short novel, exclusive booklet, and exclusive cards all written by Sakurako Kimino. The limited edition also comes with a voucher that allows fans to purchase first priority tickets for a live event scheduled to take place at Pacifico Yokohama on June 16.
The regular edition will come with two items from the limited edition: the bonus disk and a shorter version of the exclusive booklet. The cost of the limited edition is 4,725 yen and the cost of the regular edition is 3,675 yen (both prices include tax). The Volume 1 Blu-ray will contain the first episode only. Volume 2 will include two episode and will be released sometime in April.
