It has been more than 30 years since the Macross series began in 1982 with the broadcast of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Of the innumerable anime series that have been released, Macross has definitely stood the test of time, and love for the series continues to grow. Have you heard of the Macross Chronicle? It’s a compendium spanning the entire series that was released from 2008-2010 in commemoration of the series’ 25th anniversary. In total, 50 issues were released during that time period.
Now, to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary, a revised edition of the Macross Chronicle will be released. However, this time, the number of issues will be expanded to 80. This isn’t just an ordinary reboot. The books are packed with a comprehensive amount of information on the series, making their title, Chronicle, very fitting indeed.
Starting on Jan. 15, 2013, a new issue of Macross Chronicle Revised Edition will be released every Tuesday by De Agostini Japan. The first issue will cost 290 yen with subsequent issues costing 690 yen. The is definitely a worthwhile compendium for looking back at the history of Macross. Above all else, the advertisements, package illustrations, merchandise photos, and other irresistible data spanning the series are sure to be a selling point for fans.
