On Nov. 22, 2012, the karaoke club Joysound Ikebukuro West Park in Toshima, Tokyo reopened after its remodeling, showing off three themed rooms that were made in collaboration with the popular anime Macross. The newly renovated rooms include the “Sheryl Nome” room, which features a motif of the popular heroine of Macross Frontier, the “Ranka Lee” room, and the “Fire Bomber” room, which features a motif of the rock band introduced in Macross 7.

The Macross series, which celebrates 30 years of being broadcast this year, is an anime in which songs became an essential theme. Songs from Macross Frontier, such as “Lion” and “Seikan Hiko”, have made it onto Joysound’s Karaoke Ranking. The series has given birth to a great number of songs that have received high rankings, which all contributed to this new development.

From the interior to even the doors, each of the Macross-themed rooms are completely decorated with familiar characters from the series. Joysound will also begin offering an original food and drink menu themed around Macross, and even more plans are in the works. The fee for renting one of the Macross rooms is 150 yen per 30 minutes during the day on weekdays. However, this price may differ depending on date and time.

To commemorate the opening of the Macross rooms, on Nov. 22, 2012, there was a free talk show held with the popular cosplayer Enako. Also, starting on the same day, the first 2000 people to rent one of the rooms will receive a Macross original clear file.
