A collaborative sci-fi novel from the minds of novelist Satoshi Hase and popular illustrator redjuice. The series was serialized in the monthly Japanese magazine Newtype before being released as tankobon volumes.

At the start of the 22nd century, society sees a drastic reduction in labor due to plummeting birth rates. Filling this gap are humanoid robots called hIE, which have ushered in a highly advanced age of automation. In the midst of this, five hIE escape from a research facility operated by Memeframe, a company that manages through the cloud hIE behavior. What will humanity have left when artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence? So begins a boy-meets-girl story between a “person” and a “thing.”

Author Satoshi Hase has made available online to anyone free-to-use resources that include data and artwork on the world of his novel BEATLESS and manga Ptolemy’s Singularity.
ANALOGHACK, a compilation of illustrations of “the ideal hIE (humanoid robot)” drawn by 18 illustrators including redjuice based on Hase’s world settings, was released in December 2014 at Comic Market.

Illustrator redjuice rose to fame in 2011 as the original character designer on the TV anime Guilty Crown. Currently, he actively creates illustrations and character designs for TV anime and games.
As a member of the creative group supercell, he is an up-and-coming creator who has also worked on illustrations for various CD jackets.
In addition, he is active on TOM as a Special Creator.
