Tantei Opera Milky Holmes is a multimedia franchise managed by the trading card game company Bushiroad. First launched as a radio drama in 2009, Tantei Milky Opera Milky Holmes also became a TV anime produced by J.C. Staff in 2010 which was followed by a second season and then a third titled Futari wa Milky Holmes and a fourth, Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes, in 2015.
Set in a near future era known as the Great Era of Detectives, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes is the story of four budding detectives studying at Holmes Detective Academy and working for a detective agency called Milky Holmes run by Opera Kobayashi. During this era, some people are born with special abilities known as Toys and a recent Toy-related crime wave necessitates the Toy-wielding detectives to fight back!
The four main girls—Sherlock “Sheryl” Shellingford, Nero Yuzurizaki, Hercule “Elly” Burton, and Cordelia Glauca—must use their Toys to battle against the nefarious forces of evil including the Theives’ Empire and Color the Phantom among many others.
