The protagonist of visual novel Steins;Gate, Rintaro Okabe is nothing if not brilliant. Self-described as a mad scientist, he uses the alias Kyoma Hooin, although he’s also known as Okarin by his “captive,” Mayuri.

He runs the Future Gadget Lab where he, Mayuri “Mayushii” Shiina, and the “resident hack” (computer hacker) Itaru “Daru” Hashida—along with other members Kurisu Makise, Moeka Kiryu, Luka Urushibara, Faris Nyannyan, and Suzuha Amane—create unusual (and rarely useful) gadgets while trying to take on the so-called “Organization,” a maleficent force he claims is taking over the world and watching every move he makes.
