Nippon Ichi Software
Previously known as Prism Kikaku Ltd., Nippon Ichi Software is one of Japan’s most successful video game studios. Best known for their RPG and tactical RPG video games, Nippon Ichi Software is the producer of the massively popular Disgaea series which includes Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, Disgaea 3: Absence Justice, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, as well as Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, and Disgaea D3: Alliance of Vengeance. The Disgaea games also gave birth to the company’s much-loved mascot figure - the penguin-like, blue, peg-legged creatures known as Prinnies.
In addition to the Disgaea franchise, Nippon Ichi is also responsible for the Phantom Brave series, the Uta no Prince-sama games, The Witch and the Hundred Knight, and Yomawari: Night Alone.
Nippon Ichi Software also launched their American subsidiary NIS America, Inc. which publishes games produced by Nippon Ichi and others in North America as well as those of other game studios including Gust’s Atelier series.
Recently the company have also branched out into anime with the Disgaea TV anime adaptation and also distribute various other anime franchises including Toradora, Anohana: The Flower We Saw that Day, Love Live!, and Bunny Drop.
