LiSA
LiSA is the stage name of popular Japanese singer-songwriter Risa Oribe and is actually an acronym standing for “Love is Same All.” Currently signed with Aniplex under Sony Music Artists, LiSA is originally from Seki in Gifu where she started her musical career as the vocalist for the indie band Chucky. After Chucky broke up in 2005, LiSA moved to Tokyo to pursue a solo career and made her debut in 2010 as one of two vocalists for the fictional group Girls Dead Monster which featured in the Angel Beats! anime where she provided the singing voice for Yui.
Also during 2010, LiSA released three singles including “Thousand Enemies,” “Little Braver,” and “Ichiban no Takaramono,” and an album titled Keep the Beats! under the Girls Dead Monster name all for Key’s record label, Key Sounds Label. She also made her first appearance at Animelo Summer Live the same year.
LiSA finally made her solo debut in 2011 with the mini album Letters to U which was released by Aniplex under Sony Music Artists and included the song “Believe in Myself” for which LiSA provided both music and lyrics. Her first solo single “Oath Sign” was selected as the opening theme for the Fate/Zero anime, and after releasing her first full-length album Lover”s”Mile in 2012, she performed at Anime Expo in Los Angeles as the guest of honor.
Continuing her association with anime, LiSA’s second single, “Crossing Field,” was used as the opening theme for the first half of the first season of the Sword Art Online anime, and following on from her third single, “Best Day, Best Way,” her fourth single “Träumerei” became the opening theme for Day Break Illusion.
LiSA’s second full-length album, Landspace, was released in 2013 alongside the photobook Kyou mo Ii Hi da which features various photos of LiSA taken for Lis Ani! magazine over the previous three years.
After a sold out concert at the Nippon Budokan in 2014, LiSA released her fifth single, “Rising Hope,” which was used as the opening theme for the Irregular at Magic High School anime, and she also covered the Kagerou Project songs “Headphone Actor” and “Yuukei Yesterday” which were featured in the sixth episode of the Mekaku City Actors anime. Following her sixth single, “Bright Flight/L. Miranic,” her seventh single, “Shirushi,” was used as the ending theme for Sword Art Online II with the single’s B-side, “No More Time Machine,” also used in the series.
LiSA’s third album, Launcher, was released in March 2015 and her eighth single, “Rally Go Round,” was used as the opening theme to the second season of the Nisekoi anime. After providing the Japanese speaking voice for the role of Madge Nelson in Minions, LiSA released her ninth single, “Empty Mermaid,” before performing the song “ID” which was used as the theme song for the video game Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition.
Another mini album, Lucky Hi Five! was released in April 2016 which also sees her provide the opening theme for the Qualidea Code TV anime.
