A multimedia series written by Mari Okada with an anime adaptation by studio A-1 Pictures and director Tatsuyuki Nagai, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day is an emotional story about how loss changes people. A group of childhood friends who call themselves the Super Peace Busters learn this lesson when one of them, Meiko “Menma” Honma, dies tragically. Unable to recover, they drift apart...but years later, former member Jinta “Jintan” Yadomi begins seeing someone who looks like an older Menma.
Jinta gathers the other members—Naruko "Anaru" Anjo, Atsumu "Yukiatsu" Matsuyuki, Chiriko "Tsuruko" Tsurumi, and Tetsudo "Poppo" Hisakawa—back together to try and help Menma remember and fulfill a wish so she can pass on, but tensions are high with the suspicion that he might be hallucinating considering only he can see her. Even so, their reunion invokes a journey that might not only help Menma to move on, but also the members themselves.
