This is a beginner-friendly mini shamisen painstakingly created by experienced craftsmen at the shamisen specialty studio Sangenshi Kikuoka. The side of the neck is marked with a music scale, making it easy to practice with. It is available in three designs ranging from colorful to stylish.
Shamisen Craftsmen, Sangenshi Kikuoka
Sangenshi Kikuoka is one of the few shamisen specialty studios to import shamisen materials and hides directly from India, Southeast Asia, China, and Taiwan. Those materials are used by experienced craftsmen to painstakingly create each shamisen one by one. They also offer the extremely valuable shirokouki shamisen. Currently, they are focused on promoting shamisen culture to the world in order to protect Japan’s traditional crafts and culture. They are actively involved in the planning and production of authentic DIY shamisen, holding workshops for overseas diplomats, and teaching how to play the shamisen at elementary and junior high schools.
