The girls of Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend are getting immortalized as ukiyo-e woodblock prints for this special “The Most Beautiful Heroines” artwork series!
Created using traditional techniques under the concept of “oiran” (the highest-ranked courtesans in ancient Japan), this gorgeous print recreates original artwork by Kurehito Misaki and features Utaha Kasumigaoka wearing an ornately detailed kimono as she holds a paper umbrella and glances to the side with a demure look. The intricate design of her kimono was created using 17 base woodblocks carved by Kazuo Watanabe and colored 78 times by master printer Hideo Yoshida.
The background is also detailed with red daisies and a sakura tree in bloom, and the entire piece uses the technique of "continued painting" (a world-first for a collaborative ukiyo-e), meaning each of the three art pieces in the series connect to form a continuous painting, so you can enjoy them individually or as a panorama display by lining all three up together!
The artwork is printed on Echizen Kizuki Bousho, the finest quality Japanese paper made by a living national treasure, Ichibei Iwano Echizen. The traditional woodblock techniques used capture every tiny detail of the artwork in stunning clarity, and it comes framed and ready to hang, making it a gallery-worthy art piece that you are sure to treasure for years to come as part of your collection!
