Kazuma Sato is a shut-in NEET who meets an embarrassing and untimely demise only to be brought back to life by a goddess named Aqua who tells him that he will be reincarnated into a fantasy world as an adventurer whose mission is to stop the Devil King from taking over the world and that he can choose one thing to take with him, leading him to promptly choose her! But he quickly realizes that fantasy life, and Aqua, aren’t all they’re cracked up to be! For one thing, she’s a useless goddess who spends all her stat points on lame party tricks, and for another thing, they’re flat broke! In search of work, the two settle in the beginner town of Axel where they meet an explosion-loving sorceress named Megumin and a swordswoman named Darkness who’s a total hopeless masochist! Together, the party begins taking on odd jobs as they eek out a living and maybe, eventually, will get around to going after the Devil King...maybe.
Kazuma and the gang find themselves low on funds in Vol. 7 when Darkness suddenly disappears leaving only a mysterious note that she won’t be seeing them anymore…
