Fans of Masamune Shirow’s highly influential 1985 manga Appleseed have been longing for a return to the much-loved franchise for some time. Now, thanks to popular director Shinji Aramaki, their wish has been granted with the new CG reboot animation, Appleseed Alpha! In celebration, Play Arts Kai have launched this excellently sculpted model of the series’ male protagonist Briareos Hecatonchires to their already impressive lineup! The partner (both romantic and professional) of the series’ heroine Deunan, Briareos was once an ordinary man from North Africa, but after having been recruited by the KGB as a child, he defected to the USA where he began working with Special Security Forces. After almost dying in an explosion, Briareos has increasingly come to rely on cybernetic technology, as seen here in his heavily mechanized physique. Why not pick up Briareos’ partner Deunan too so they can provide the ultimate in law enforcement in your very own Olympus at home?
