[Tokyo RPG Factory Interview] We spoke with the director Atsushi Hashimoto!

Dec. 20, 2017

This month, the “I am Setsuna” Paper-Tape Music Collection - Fans’ Selection is finally set to be released.

There’s still a little while before the finished product will be delivered. In order to do something for fans while they wait, we discussed with Tokyo RPG Factory and were able to have an interview with the director Atsushi Hashimoto!

TOM: Please give us a short introduction.

Hashimoto: I’m Atsushi Hashimoto.
I am involved as a game planner for multiple games at a development company in Osaka.
I was a planner for “Kid Icarus: Uprising,” and a director for “FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS.” I also work with Tokyo RPG Factory.

TOM: Who is your favorite character in “I am Setsuna”?

Hashimoto: My favorite character is Aeterna.

I like strong characters with a mission like her.
In the same vein, I also like Nidr.

TOM: We created this paper-tape music collection along with the fans, but what is the “I am Setsuna” song that you’re emotionally attached to?

Hashimoto: I think this is a difficult question, but if I have to pick just one, it would be “Winter Journey’s Tale.”

TOM: “Winter Journey’s Tale” was the first song to be turned into paper-tape! I was worried you would pick a song that wasn’t part of the collection.

Hashimoto: It’s Setsuna’s theme song, and also the song that plays last, so I really like it.

TOM: The international version of Tokyo RPG Factory’s newest game, “LOST SPHEAR,” is almost on sale! Please let us know some points that you want everyone to pay attention to.

Hashimoto: I definitely want people to pay attention to the “memory”-themed playing style and story.

I also want everyone to pay attention to the Vulcosuits that the characters wear in battle so they can use their special moves.

We improved various components, such as having various locations and the ability to move during battle, based off of opinions from people who played Setsuna, so we’d like everyone to play it and enjoy the new experiences in this game.

TOM: We received messages from the fans for everyone at Tokyo RPG Factory. We had more than 500 of them, so we’d like to take the time to give you some of them now.

A message from a fan:
Tokyo RPG Factory Team!! Thank you for all your hard work to create these games! A lot of us all over the world truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into making these games so beautiful. Super excited to see more of what you guys have! Do your best!! With love from fans all over the world. < 3

Hashimoto: Thank you for your kind words.
Because we have so much support, we are able to continue making games like Setsuna. Please continue to support us in the future.

A message from a fan:
Keep up with the good work! When something comes from the bottom of the heart, it reaches deep into the heart of who sees, listens, plays it! Keep that in mind! :D

Hashimoto: Thank you for playing Setsuna!
We’d like to keep making games that reaches into people’s hearts, so please look forward to Tokyo RPG Factory’s next releases.

A message from a fan:
Your work has inspired many including myself to create and follow their passions. Regardless of the fear that it may not stand out or be forgotten, it always means something. There is always something worth fighting for if you believe it.

Hashimoto: I’m very happy to hear that you were influenced by our game to create something new. Knowing that there are people like that gives us courage.

We received the rest of the messages from Tokyo Otaku Mode earlier, and I have read them all.
Thank you very much, everyone!

TOM: Thank you for your time, Mr. Hashimoto!

“I am Setsuna” Paper-Tape Music Collection - Fans’ Selection is scheduled to be shipped this month!
Please look forward to it!
