Hi everyone, and hello July! Things have heated up plenty, and we’ve already expressed our very strong preferences for staying nice and cool inside… but to be honest, that’s impossible when so many awesome events are coming back. Take Anime Expo in LA, which is literally just starting! For anyone who can’t make it over, there’s always the option to hang out online at AX Lite. Another event we’re looking forward to is the debut concert of the inimitable reaper/rapper Mori Calliope from hololive. This one also caters to fans in both the real and online worlds, with a livestream and post-event viewing available in addition to the live concert in Tokyo on July 21.

Introducing a figure of Rei Ayanami (Tentative Name) from Evangelion wearing her plugsuit and a hoodie! Based on the cover illustration to Evangelion Millennials 2 by Mai Yoneyama, the nuances of the artwork have been skillfully recreated, including the mix of fragility and innocence. The overwhelming emotion conveyed through her calm posture is wonderful. The contrast in color, form, and texture between her plugsuit and light gray hoodie is also a highlight. Even her hair, which is made using clear parts, has been beautifully finished and features a light gradation. As a bonus, the figure also comes with a mini shikishi autograph board featuring the cover artwork by Mai that it’s based on!

Introducing a collaboration between illustrator Haruko, Vocaloid diva Hatsune Miku, and figure maker Kotobukiya! Part of Kotobukiya’s Ocean Exploration Robot Denshitako No. 3 series, the figure recreates Haruko’s original character Denshitako No. 3, a cute ocean exploration robot created by the fictional company Hinomoto Heavy Industries, in a special Hatsune Miku design.
The figure was fully supervised by Haruko to capture her adorable chibi look and comes with three face plates and interchangeable arm parts so you can recreate tons of cute poses. Her legs are made with pull-out joints for maximum range of movement, and she is equipped with a 3mm back joint, so she can even be used with the separately sold M.S.G. From the popular anime The Demon Girl Next Door Season 2 comes a 1/7 scale figure of the friendly girl from the Dark Clan who awakens to her demon form, Shadow Mistress Yuko! Produced by Kotobukiya as the third figure that recreates original artwork by series creator Izumo Ito, Shamiko is captured in a pose based on the anime’s opening in which she and Momo walk in the rain sharing an umbrella together. She is posed jumping up at 10" tall in her Sakuragaoka High School uniform holding an umbrella featuring a dangling charm themed after her nemesis, Momo.
Her outfit has been sculpted with a dynamic look to convey movement, and she gives a bright smile that’s irresistible.
